What each step does
- Sea salt soak. Dissolved in warm water, it softens the skin and leaves feet feeling fresh. The O2 Fizz boxes use a detox soak and a fizz powder that bubbles in the water.
- Sugar scrub. Gently exfoliates dead skin, especially on the soles and heels.
- Mud masque. A cleansing mask that leaves feet feeling refreshed. Rinse it off after the time on the packet.
- Cooling gel mask or cream mask. An extra conditioning step in the 5 Step boxes.
- Callus remover. In the Ultimate box only. It softens hard skin so it is easier to file away gently.
- Massage cream or butter. Hydrates and softens dry, rough skin. Take your time with this step.
- Moisturizer. The Ultimate box ends with a moisturizer to help keep skin soft.
What you need besides the box
- A foot basin or a large bowl, and warm water
- A towel
- Nail clippers, a nail file and a cuticle pusher
- A foot file, if you have hard skin
- Nail polish remover, and polish if you want it
- Clean cotton socks for afterwards
How to do a pedicure at home, step by step
- Prepare your nails. Remove old polish, then trim your toenails straight across and smooth the edges with a file.
- Soak. Fill the basin with warm water, not hot, and add the soak packet. Soak your feet for about 10 minutes.
- Scrub. Massage the sugar scrub over your feet in small circles, focusing on the heels and the balls of the feet. Rinse.
- Work on hard skin. In the Ultimate box, apply the callus remover to hard areas as the packet directs, then file gently. In any box, a light pass with a foot file on softened skin is fine. Do not cut or shave hard skin.
- Mask. Spread the mud masque, or the mask in your box, over your feet, leave it on for the time on the packet, then rinse and pat dry.
- Tidy the cuticles. Gently push the cuticles back. Do not cut them.
- Massage. Work the massage cream or butter into your feet and lower legs for a few minutes. It is the most relaxing part of the pedicure.
- Finish. Apply the moisturizer if your box has one. Wipe your nails clean before painting them, or put on cotton socks and let the cream sink in.
